Sometimes our feet get in the way of where we're going sometimes we wander off the path
We wind up swearing them directions took us wrong when we never even thought to ask
And everyday I catch a bruise from the words I use, or the ones I didn't think to say
Nothing ever works out just quite like I planned it and I wouldn't have it any other way

And when trouble’s bearing down
We shove our plans back once again
We can hold each other through the hurt
When the worry settles in
We might get more sickness than health never rich and always poor
Trouble is nothing new I've still got you so I don't worry anymore

Back when we first got started down this road we’re on we guessed we’d see more sunny days
Guess there’s been one or two mixed in too far and few among the rainy and the gray
And in a life of work we know it all too well we can count on trouble fear and pain
Long as we’ve got each other when we suffer we can weather any amount of rain

When the storms break down the fields
When the walls let the winter in
When we worry how we’ll make it through the month
And we both feel like giving in
Life might give us more trouble than we planned on until we’re tired and bruised and sore
Just rest assured I won’t give up and I’m all yours, and try not to worry anymore

Years from now when we struggle just to walk around on this old dirt that we call home
With foggy eyes and worn-out wrinkled smiles, souvenirs of the life we’ve known
there’s no finer view than standing next to you all through this life we get to share

When I draw the last breath in this chest

If that’s the last thing I see in this old world
